  Crock Pot Stew

Makes 6 generous servings.

This was the first thing I made in my new crock pot and it was as delicious as I remembered it to be—and oh, so easy!


2 lbs. stew meat

6-8 carrots cut in chunks

1 cup celery diced

1 large onion diced

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

1 can (16 oz.) tomatoes

1 Tbsp brown sugar

4 Tbsp quick tapioca

1/2 cup dry red wine

1 can (4 oz.) button mushrooms

1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen peas

salt & pepper


Mix all ingredients except mushrooms, peas, salt and pepper in slow cooker. Cook on low setting about 8 hours. About 1 hour before serving, add mushrooms and peas, season to taste with salt and pepper.
